The WorldSkills Competition Abu Dhabi 2017 was organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who was the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi at the time. His patronage of the event reflected his interest in supporting youth both within the UAE and beyond, as he has always believed that young people are the key to the future and the cornerstone of the nation's sustainability and prosperity.
Organized by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Abu Dhabi hosted the world's largest event of its kind, the "WorldSkills Competition Abu Dhabi 2017," from 15 to 18 October at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The event featured an opening ceremony on 14 October 2017, and a closing ceremony on 19 October 2017, both held at the du Arena, with preparations involving extensive logistics to welcome 10,000 visitors.
The competition is the world's largest event bringing together thousands of creative contestants to compete in various skills in technical and vocational education. The event gathered 1,300 competitors from all over the world to compete in 51 skills.
