The department of Support Services is driven by a strong and talented team with specialized knowledge. The different sections within the Support Services Department are engaged in day-to-day operations involving technology, customers, and best practices to ensure ACTVET is a leader in the its field. These sections are: Information Technology, Human Resources, Finance, Procurement & Contracts.
Since 2006 EmiratesSkills inspires young Emiratis to embrace new skills and build careers in technical and vocational trades. EmiratesSkills functions under ACTVET’s umbrella and serves it’s objectives by raising awareness of career-based technical and vocational education among young Emiratis through competitions, events, training programs and technical career activities. EmiratesSkills’ stand is exemplified in its forerunner programs that achieved anchor milestones in changing the perception of TVET among the community and the decision makers in the education sector in UAE by showcasing the promising careers that TVET can secure for the young Emiratis preparing them for the future jobs that are yet to emerge for a strong and diversified UAE Economy.
The Licensing and Accreditation department plays a vital role in ensuring that training providers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi are providing the highest level of quality services to all of its stakeholders. The Department provides guidance and support to all training providers to ensure that they are maintaining appropriate physical and human resources to effectively carry out the mandate of quality training. Implementing a robust licensing and Accreditation system will provide the public with confidence in TVET deliverables and contribute to supplying the UAE labor market with a skilled workforce that is adaptable to the changing demands of employment.
The Startegic Planning and Performance Management Department has three sections – Strategic Planning, Innovation and Technology, and Project Management Office. Collectively, the Department is responsible for developing a cohesive and integrated strategy for the government funded technical and vocational education and training sector in Abu Dhabi and align it with Abu Dhabi Emirate plan and UAE vision 2021 . In addition, it is responsible for exploring the next practices in innovation, prepare strategy for innovation, and spread the culture of innovation in the institutional work environment and promote best practices innovation and provide high-level strategic advice to the ACTVET system educational organizations on the role of science, research and innovation in achieving the government's priorities and enhancing the UAE’s competitiveness. Moreover, developing and incubating strategic priority projects and also for managing and monitoring ACTVET projects, supervising and monitoring the implementation of MOUs and contracts signed by ACTVET with external entities.
In 2014, the National Qualifications Authority (NQA) and the Vocational Education and Training Awards Council (VETAC) of the UAE have authorized Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) as the first Awarding Body in the United Arab Emirates. The Qualifications Department at ACTVET was established in 2014 to run the functions of the Awarding Body by overseeing the quality assurance of the qualification development process and managing the qualification delivery, assessment and internal verification processes of the Registered Training Providers operating in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates.
At the Quality Assurance Department, we guarantee the development, review and implementation of the guidelines and standards which positively impact the performance of the vocational and technical institutes in Abu Dhabi. Moreover, by utilizing cutting-edge mechanisms and implementing corporate procedures, our department constantly measures the performance of all stakeholders and the effectiveness of related activities to ensure consistency and compliance with quality systems.
